My Harley Adventures

AUGUST 2009

As told by Jim and Michael:  We were cruising along side of Lake Superior on the Keweenaw Peninsula near Copper Harbor.  We came across a section of the road where the wind had blown the sand across the road.  First Jim drove through it – where there appeared to be less sand.  Then Arden came through – only he drove through the deeper part of the sand.  Unfortunately, it turned his front tire to the side and over he fell!  It took both Jim and Michael to help him lift it and push the bike out of the sand…mainly due to the fact that they were laughing so hard!!

Truth was his face was as red as can be – he was pretty embarrassed.  And for the duration of the trip, his new name was ‘Sandy’!

SHEP’S RIDE

Shep and Patricia came to visit us in Portage July of 2010. I had purchased a big Harley Street Glide. I decided to take Shep for a ride. He hesitated since he’s kind of a fraidy-cat and it’s not too manly to have a guy ride with another guy. But he finally put on his helmet and hopped on behind me. We headed to Sauk City to the Harley dealer where I bought my cycle. It’s a large dealer and there are always a lot of old bikers hanging around outside, sitting on benches and watching other bikers come in and park. So we cruise in and of course got their attention with my “bitch” riding behind me. We parked, took off our helmets and headed inside. As Shep walked in front of me, I slapped him on his ass while the older bikers were still watching us. That really impressed the old boys and I’m sure we got a lot of snickers and laughs!!
